everyones a buzz about who our next president will be. but none feel extreme enough for me. it feels odd to be checking who is winning what state and who is leading what poll when kenyans are being raped as a means of control. when darfur is still not at peace. this is life and death! after rwanda we said how could we have let that happen? after the holocaust we say how could that have happened? and yet, we let those that desperately need help go without and future elections dominate our focus & let some possible terrorist threat-and oil investments-dominate our foreign affairs.
how can i ask even one of our candidates to represent us after they have stood by the injustice and violation of the very fibers of our constitution and beliefs our country was founded on and let it happen and continue to happen? how can we let our admin get away with its crimes? our administration is again pushing legislation to block our mode of democracy free speech and participation. our admin has lied to us about evidence, falsified, invaded personal space while name calling "communist" countries like cuba, gone to war against a country where more military might is surrounding oil than people, continually leaving children behind and cutting crucial social services in a time of economic hardship under the guise of no child left behind as if a name could really hide acts, engaging in nuclear weapons and nuclear energy rather than stick to nuclear test ban treaty and finding sustainable solutions to global warming and hypocritically bashing other countries nuclear activities to turn attention away from our own log in our countries billion dollar eye, using torture camps!, abusing human rights, imposing FEAR into the hearts of every american in an effort to get blind faith, obedience instead of rational thought. they are actually saying we can no longer use the d.c. mall for activism and peace parades and blocking the space after we had the largest population turn out since Vietnam asking for Bush to be impeached.
it's beyond ridiculous. where is someone who would make the framers of our country proud? who will guard and live out our constitution and the values it stands for with actions not rhetoric.
this is not to say, i am not going to participate in the only process we have. although it does not revoke my disheartenment of our corrupt racially unjust voting system.
but it does mean i long for something so much more. why did we ever ask for a king? why did we want to be like all the others? why do we? when only God could ever really be enough. perfect justice, peace, and love.
the only source of my true hope.
Lord have mercy on us. Have mercy on the U.S. of A. Have mercy on Kenya. Have mercy on Chad. Have mercy on Sudan. Have mercy on D.C. Lord, have mercy on your fallen people. Lord, have mercy on me!
God is not a government or political ideology. God is love. love is always bold. i wish i could walk in Jesus day. hear his radical message on the streets. searching for the poorest of the poor because that is surely where he is hanging out. see him topple tables in the church. see him say, "peter put down your sword." our ministry is one of love.
