Hero's new home

We picked up our new dog from the rescue shelter on Sunday. Hero was ready to GO! We walked him to the car and the staff thought they would have to lure him into the
backseat. Not our boy Hero! He jumped in and climbed right up between Bobby & I. It melted our hearts!!! I got all teary and the staff even felt "the moment." We rode off and Hero climbed into my lap. I hugged him tight the entire way home riding cheek to cheek with the wind in our hair. It was a FREEDOM ride! Hero had the biggest grin ever! We could just feel his excitment to finally be FREE and have a home.

We introduced him to Duma on the patio before taking him for a walk. Hero is so sweet and surprisingly small like a mini me wolf in a fox body. The boys touched noses but Duma was way more into Hero. Hero had the whole place to explore.

Then Becca, Hailey, & Savannah came over to see him.

After they left, Hero got to meet his Uncle Ryan whom he loved (of course!). Hero's pretty similar to our family dog Duke only a mini version without the puurty german shepard marks and purple chow chow tongue since Hero is a purebreed and not a mix like Dukie.

Hero is a sweet 10 year old Japanese dog, a Shiba Inu. He has a personality so similar to Duma! They are both extraverted, social, sweet, loving, independent, curious, protective, skiddish, playful, energetic, and love to be outside! So far Hero has been incredible with Duma. Duma's been a bit jealous defending his turf and especially his Bobs. They are trying to eat each others food, play with each others toys, and sleep on each others places. But they have been oh so cute and despite the adoption agent's comment that they would never be "buddies." I am keeping hope....Duma made a courageous move the first night and crept in and cuddled close.

The best of friends? I hope so!!!!!
