baby bella

i'm sitting on the deck sleeping with my head back over the chair because somehow i keep falling asleep when i am trying to lay out and read. my mom rushes through the screen, "kirst, it's bobby, " handing me the phone and i wonder if they both know they do the emergency run. used to it, i quickly pick up the phone to listen as bobby panickly explains to me his emergency dilemma. he saw a cat-a baby kitten-being sold out of a bag on the road and it broke his heart and he had to stop. the kitten's tail is messed up, she has a scar on her face, and he just got her on the spot. totally impulsive for the bobcat. earning double bonus points...a kitty :) and a spontaneous decision which i would normally get an ear load of bellyache over :) love it! its a no brainer-these are instinctual soul decisions-i'm so in. "should i take her to the vet or the humane society? what do i do with her? should we keep her?" he asks probably knowing my response before i utter it. i tell him to take her to the vet so they can tell us what she will need to eat and that we can keep her if he wants. the whole time i am dying to just see the precious nugget! she is a black cat with long hair and sky blue eyes guessing about 2 weeks old the size of his palm. the vet says she is closer to 4 weeks and to bring her in when she is older.
bobby and i talked about 20 times that night with him telling me all the cute things she was doing and the kitty treats and items he was getting her. nothing like hearing your husband say he is picking out a pink shabby chic collar and pink name tag for the new kitten he just got!

bobby has always wanted a baby animal cat or dog. thankfully kittens are about 100x's easier than dogs instinctively knowing how to clean themselves and use the litter to dig and go to the bathroom.

so impatiently i waited until saturday for my first bella glimpse. bobby and ryan drive friday night to michigan (with a kitten!??!!) to pick up me, duma, and hero from the lake and drive us ace ventura style back to d.c. on sunday.
bella is the tiniest thing i have ever seen! i can't get over her size! i have never seen anything so small and adorable. she is so sweet, curious, brave, social, adorable, and bobby's angel! (poor duma has some competition) the boys are entranced by bella. hero & duma can't stop following her around. so, even tho our family is ridiculously zooish we love baby bella!
