Dear Hailey-Bunny,
We are having a wonderful week together. The September air is perfect! It is warm and wonderful, not the sticky heat of August. Yesterday we played in the sunshine. We made apples and trains in the sandbox, found weeds which felt so soft and nice like fuzzy caterpillers. You picked a bouquet of them and kept saying, "more, more, more!" We went to the park and you climbed up the jungle gyms, went down the slides, and you held on to the steering wheel and drove us to the "moon!" which you said for the first time, and ran around collecting pine cones and hiding them underneath the jungle gym.
You have been helping me dress you in the morning. You are learning how to put your clothes on all by yourself! You just need help with the buttons, snaps, and pulling your pants over your bottom. You are getting very good at climbing up the stairs (I think you are almost ready to do it on your own!) We are working on downstairs since you have not practiced it as much. You do it well holding onto my hands. I hope to get you ready to climb the stairs by yourself so when Mama has the new baby you can be a big girl helper and climb the stairs yourself since she will be healing and won't be able to carry you for a while.
You are learning your shapes and recognizing the letters: A, B, & C. You have circle down well, we are working on square and triangle. You know the number 1 by concept and follow directions to bring only one toy (when you want to take many). We are working on number 2. You follow along the motions of several of your favorite songs and sing the melodies. You are excellent at drawing pictures, putting your rings on the ring stand, building towers, and stacking your blocks. We are working on stacking different shapes, learning our utensils and manners when we play tea party. You are so thoughtful (just like your Mama) and make sure to serve all your friends when you are eating. I am so proud of you!
We are working on your imagination. This is my favorite part!
Today we went for a rain walk. You are learning your seasons, weather, and day and night little by little. You know sun, moon, and stars and we are working on associating them with day and night. I think you have the concept of snow down as we read winter books like, If you Take a Mouse to the Movies. You point to the snow, snowmen, and Christmas trees. Now, you understand rain and run to get your rain coat before we go outside when it is raining out. We watch the drops fall and get the sidewalk all wet and see the rain covering the front door. I say, "Look at the rain, its all wet and you touch the drops to feel the water and say, "yeah, yeah!" You love picking off all the buds on trees and plants. Silly girl! There are some wild mushrooms which you especially love to pick and point and say, "mmuummamoom." its sooo cute!
Everyday, you ask for Uncle Bob. He is at school now and so often I tell you, sorry Bob is at school. You bring your moose and leave it by the front door waiting for him to come home. When we see his car, you say "car! Bob!" and run to see him. After you give him a hug and kiss and play for a while you ask him to take you on a moose ride! He gets you situated and you smile as he picks you up and you ride around the house as if on Santa's reindeer. You love it! You ask for it again and again!
I love our days of play together and wish they could go on forever! Everyday you learn about four-six new words...a big on today was, "hop!" You have so much fun repeating them. You smile when you say them and look to me for approval knowing you just figured out a brand new word. You are such a good talker and learner!
