signs

"signs that might be omens..." -james taylor

omen #1 : rainbow

the day before my birthday i saw it. it started raining when we were in chinatown having dimsum. after the days activities the high point being my aching weak biceps carrying my three year old seany boy who fell asleep on my lap in the metro and then held onto me melting my heart as i carried him all the way to the car (which took extra long because i did a classic kiki and walked the wrong direction out of the metro...opps!). placing the boys carefully into their car seats, we headed home. i saw it hanging in the air...a rainbow. meant for all, but i took it as a special sign from God meant for me to see. a sign of goodness to come, hope hanging in the air as a promise from my God. my deliverer is always at work! raising me up from my mire...and into canaan just like our Father and Mother have since the birth of humanity. thank you Lord! for carrying all of humanity-and even though it is hard for me to believe at times-me.

omen #2 : praying mantis

it was the largest praying mantis i have ever seen-perhaps that is because it was beyond magnifying glass close-sitting on my shoulder. i think it was one of the east coast Tendora ones because it was nearing six inches in length. well fed from some little creatures. now i think crickets are good luck in china, and i know something about praying mantis's eating one another after after culminating their seed, but i'm hoping somewhere a praying mantise paying a friendly drop by visit on my arm is also considered to be a good omen. if not, i am creating it to be one. even if its not a sign, my lil bros got to see a big bug on sisters arm.
