everyday we walk.i love rounding up this curve in the bend knowing down the hill, over the bridge, past cleo, and up the hill...the park is waiting. somehow the breeze is extra kind here. it beckons me and takes the days effort off my back for a brief moment. the trees shoulder us in and i feel comfort in their pressence, hugged by the waving winds moving my hair across my face as i shoo it away behind me. we have different strolls we like to walk around the neighborhood, to the butterfly bush, to the nature preserve, routes to the park, etc. but there is something about this curve in the road leading up the hill. this particular "spot" delights me down to my toes.
in the early morning half of the day, bunny knowing her morning routine runs to the door saying, "walk! walk! walk!" she helps me find my shoes and her own. in the morning before nap we freestyle it. meaning, hailey gets to actually walk herself stroller free and even lucy gets the early morning abandoned road priviledge of walking leash free. every morning we stroll to the butterfly bush. the butterfly bush is down the street past the mailbox, wild mushrooms, tomatoe plant, flowers, bus (where we stop and sing the wheel son and hailey dances and hums), the "owwie tree" which has a boo-boo and has been cut down, the blue sparkle grass, and finally we wind around to the butterfly bush. the butterfly bush has tiny bunches of purple flowers and a sticky sweet smell much heavier than the small blossoms which linger in the wind around it. we stand and watch all the wild butterflies flock upon its delicate purple majesty taking in its cottony air until lucy scares them away and we play in the green grass surrounding the butterfly bush.
in the late afternoon we walk to the park to play. hailey reaches for lucy's leash
and hands it to me. she runs to collect "snacks" for our journey. finally, she runs to her stroller and begs "Up! Up! Up!" that is after she first checks the back pocket for a secret stash of raisins to collect. lil' stinker. even lucy tries to sneak a bite. with the crew assembled we are off!
