if i had to sum up the summer up in one word it would be
visitors. we've had the pleasure of welcoming corin, mason, bryan, goosie, ry, ma & pa gulley, kendall, jaxon, and we have dad, geal, ian & sean, lil gulley lori & paul, an rbz on the way in august.
its been so great to share the house with family...catching up on life in tiki torch light on the patio with ry, watching bobby and dad gulley being buddies sawing metal apart-being handymen-all so i can have a pretty pink vintage door knob, getting to know the personalities of baby mason and baby jaxon, playing glitter making paper butterflies with mom listening to old b.j. thomas records she swoons over, talking with ma g at the kitchen table, and seeing corin and kendall become mommies.
i am amazed at how naturally these chickadee's have merged into the role of motherhood putting their babes before themselves, surrendering to the sleepless

nights to answer the cries, sacrificing their days with smiles at the miracle of the little minds developing. the days are agonizing and yet, i love their pleasure at the little moments. corin kept saying how mason was getting big so quickly relishing holding him, not wanting to put him down because he would only be a baby for a little while. kendall couldn't stop kissing jaxon enthralled at his adorable self. its incredible seeing your friends and siblings become parents. i can actually physically see the love pouring from them onto these little hearts. i can see their eyes in their babies. i can see god looking at us.
i have no idea what its like to be a mum but seeing how much goes into it i am nervously struck for it would be so difficult for me to give up my selfish time. i am blown away by these strong, amazing, resilient, laughing, calm, delighted young

mamas. i don't know how they turned that switch to motherhood remaining who they are and taking everything in stride as if it ain't no thing. i love how laid back they are even with a babe driving them nutzy cookoo and back. i love their tired exhausted but bright laughter. spending time with them, i am convinced these young mama's are rock stars. and not just rocking out rock stars, but the kind of rock stars truly worthy of "wow!" admiration...because they just are.
best mum on the block
